We mourn the death of our teacher, our inspiration, our friend
Phil Zweifel.

Dr. Zweifel was Associate Dean/Associate Professor at UW-Waukesha.  He shared his love of life, love of language and love of jazz with The Poetry People and so many others in the UWW community.

His kindness and good humor shone on each of us as explored the power of language and the art of poetry.  UW-Waukesha will offer a memorial service on Saturday, January 7, 2012.

Today we feature a poem by
Alfred, Lord Tennyson
written in 1889

ALFRED TENNYSON: Crossing the Bar
Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
    Turns again home!
Twilight and evening bell,
    And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
    When I embark;
For though from out our bourn of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
